Despicable Me 3 releasing this week
None of those who enjoy watching 3D computer-animated comedy films would have forgotten the Despicable Me series of films that were lapped up by the young and the old alike!
‘Despicable Me’ released in 2010 was made at Mac Guff, the French Animation Studio and was directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud who had joined hands to direct ‘Despicable Me 2’, a sequel to the 2010 film. While the 1 st film, made at a budget of $ 69 million grossed $ 543.1 million, the 2nd part, made at a cost of $ 76 million, earned 970.8 million! This is the 3rd installment of the series and is a sequel to the 2013 film, ‘Despicable Me 2’. Pierre Coffin and Kayle Balda have both directed this 3rd film of the series. It is worth noting that a prequel (or a spin –off to the Despicable Me series, ‘Minions’ was released in 2015 which was directed by Pierre Coffin and Kayle Balda who came in place of Chris Renaud. Made at a cost of $ 74 million, the film collected $ 1.159 million!
Synopsis
Gru (voice by Steve Carell) and his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) are both not too happy about the sudden popularity of Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), a former child star who has grown up to become obsessed with the character that he played in the '80s and is heading towards achieving worldwide recognition! Also, Gru gets into some sibling rivalry when he meets his long-lost charming, cheerful, and more successful twin brother Dru (Steve Carell) who wants to team up with him for one last criminal heist to steal the diamond that Bratt has stolen. Get ready to watch the fun filled action!
Margo (Mirands Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Nev Scharrel) are the three adoptive daughters of Gru. Pierre Coffin who has been associated with the ‘Despicable Me’ series of films as well as the ‘Minions’ has lent his voice to Mel as well as the other Minions!
